Alexandria Hill

A Chicago Sinfonietta Project Inclusion Freeman Fellow in both the Orchestral and Ensemble programs, violinist Alexandria Hill enjoys a professional career performing with orchestras and chamber ensembles across the United States and Europe. Amongst the ensembles with which she has performed are the Chineke! Orchestra (London, UK), the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Matt Jones Orchestra (through which she has had the opportunity to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center Stage, and NPR’s Tiny Desk

Hill’s eclectic music background has given her the opportunity to share the stage not only with classical musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, but also with Hip-hop/R&B artists such as John Legend, Kanye West, PJ Morton, and Noname.

A passionate proponent of diversity, Ms. Hill is co-founder of Ensemble Affect, a not-for-profit baroque and early music ensemble. Ensemble Affect is Chicago’s only early music group dedicated to bringing historical music performance to diverse audiences free of charge.

As a Black American musician, it is a strong belief of Alexandria’s that diversity in music can be broadened not only through performance, but also through education as well. She works with young music students around the city of Chicago in largely Black and Latino communities with the hope to create diverse, generational wealth for the future of music.
